Skin Cancer
The doctors at Dermatology Associates of Concord are skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer. We know that the diagnosis of cancer can be alarming, which is why we are especially compassionate and take the time to explain the diagnosis and go over all treatment options with our patients, offering the latest techniques to treat skin cancer with high cure rates and fast healing times.
Types of Skin Cancer
We identify and treat all types of skin cancer including:
If one of our doctors takes a sample of a skin lesion for a biopsy, please see these guidelines for biopsy wound care.
Skin Cancer Treatments
We also offer the following advanced methods for treating skin cancer and precancerous cells:
- Cryotherapy / liquid nitrogen
- Topical chemotherapy
- Blue light treatment / photodynamic therapy
- Mohs micrographic surgery
When treating a precancerous lesion, we use photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT). This involves an application of a photosensitizing agent called Levulan (aminolaevulinic acid-ALA), followed by exposure to an activating light source (Dusa Blue Light, Photoderm Intense Pulsed Light/IPL, or laser).
We also collaborate with the oncology departments at Emerson Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center in the treatment of more complex problems and advanced melanoma.
